Who are your favorite writers? Roxane Gay, James Baldwin, Sally Rooney + Ocean Vuong.
Which living person do you most admire? My dad Wayne, who manages to be the most hardworking yet sleepiest person on the planet. I definitely inherited my love of snacks + naps from him.
What inspires you? The perfect combination of colours and textures, whether it’s part of a painting or the way my breakfast is arranged that day, or a good power walk through the city, listening to a particularly informative podcast.
What are you passionate about? Making the arts accessible — in all of its different and wonderful forms, and especially to people who weren’t born with the privilege to easily access it.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Teaching calligraphy to more than two thousand students + counting! Also, writing Anna Wintour’s place card + helping to pen a letter to the Pope.
Do you have a secret talent? What is it? Licking my elbow is a go-to party trick. Not sure how much longer I’ll be able to perform this stunt.
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? Definitely my dog Margot, who basically switches between people-watching from our 10th floor flat, napping in sun spots, and getting treats handed to her for sitting/laying down on command. What a life.
What’s a trip that changed you, and why? A five-day whirlwind of eating through Singapore + Kuala Lumpur changed my taste buds forever.
What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important? To seek delight, to be gracious, to find solace between the cracks…this is how to survive.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Say yes, but also, say no.
