Laura Murray Public Relations has been hard at work for many months raising awareness for Blackbird Theatre’s anticipated production of Waiting for Godot. You might recall past blog posts where we threw down the gauntlet or traced the evolution of the show’s design.

Last Thursday night, Dec. 29, after months of research, rehearsal, planning, and preparation, Blackbird opened the show at The Cultch. LMPR arranged for a number of prominent critics and media to attend the performance, and are delighted to see the positive accolades they are heaping on the production.

We share a few sentiments, and links to the full reviews, below:

“Beckett called his play a tragicomedy, and John Wright’s superb Blackbird Theatre production provides ample helpings of both qualities.”

“… you’ll wait a long time for a Godot as good as this.”

– Jerry Wasserman, The Province

“Vancouver’s finest presenter of classic theatre”

“…this Godot has a fresh humour to it that left me seeing some aspects of the play as though they were just penned…”

– Michael Harris, Globe and Mail

“Respectful and moving”

“…wickedly funny…”

– Colin Thomas, Georgia Straight

Blackbird Theatre’s ‘Waiting for Godot’ runs until January 21, 2012 at The Cultch.
